A few years after graduating with a degree in Graphic Design, Matthew Barrett saw a shift in the work needed from many industries. Instead of print, more and more design was becoming digital. But not only did companies want a web designer, they wanted someone who could design the strategy of a site that would appeal to the end user. They wanted user experience design, UX design for short.
As a relatively new discipline, it isn’t taught in many schools and most UX designers have become that way through work experience. But there is always the conundrum of not being able to get a job without experience but not being able to get experience without a job. Luckily, Matthew Barrett, deciding to augment his skills, found a Masters program of UX design at Kent State University. He is currently in the process of completing that degree. Some of his work from the program is featured below.
